FAQ’s

What if I’ve never splitboarded before?

Perfect! The Front Range Splitfest is the perfect way to try out splitboarding for the first time. You can get everything you need in one place at a way lower cost than you could even demo a splitboard at a shop. If you’ve been thinking about getting into splitboarding, this event is for you! This is the fastest, cheapest, and easiest way to get into splitboarding, gain new skills, and meet new partners.

What if I don’t own a splitboard?

No problem! We have gathered the top splitboarding brands in the industry to demo splitboard set-ups, bindings, and even avy gear. Buy a ticket and you can pick up everything you need at the event. You will need to bring your own poles though, and if you do have your own splitboard set-up and avy gear bring it! You may want to use your bindings or skins! BCA and Ortovox will be demoing avy gear, but only to those with prior avy education.

Are there guided tours?

There are! Check them out on the schedule or home page. You need to reserve a spot though!

How will I know where to go tour?

We will host a terrain talk to discuss different touring options. Winter Park Resort has a fantastic uphill policy that will allow new splitboarders to tour in the safety of mitigated terrain, while those with avy training can tour around Berthoud Pass. Check out the Terrain page for more details and we recommend researching the area before touring!

If you do not have at least an AIARE 1 certification and beacon, probe, and shovel, then you need to tour at Winter Park Resort - DO NOT take your demo onto Berthoud Pass without avy education, equipment, and the ability to use it.

Where do I pick up and return demos?

Demo pickups will begin MARCH 31st at the Headwaters Center in Winter Park, CO at 6 pm. You pick up your demo the night before you plan to ride it. This way you can adjust the splitboard and become familiar with it. Demo pick-ups and drop-offs will be from 6-9 pm every night for the next day and from 4-6 pm at Hideaway Park Brewery on the last day.

Can I reserve a specific board?

No board demos will be first come, first serve - so we recommend getting to the demo floor by 6 pm each day if you have a specific size or model you want to try out.

Where do I stay?

You can check out our top selections for local lodging in the lodging section of this site. We have lined up some great local options and even a discount at Gravity Haus Winter Park for attendees. Lodging is not included in the ticket price.

Free Beer you say?

Hideaway Park Brewery is providing FREE beer during their happy hours for ticketed attendees. Beers will be $5 suggested donation outside of the happy hour and all proceeds go directly to the FOCAIC, FOBP, and AIARE!

Is there food?

We will have 2 food trucks at the event this year - Philly on the Go and Phlavor! YUM.

Is the Front Range Splitfest free to attend?

No.  If you want to demo product, attend classes, enjoy the free beer at happy hour, or win a sweet new splitboard in the raffle, you will need to purchase tickets in advance or the day of at www.frontrangesplitfest.com. Registered attendees will get a wristband that gives them access to all of these great offerings. If you just want to come to check out the vendors and see what is going on, the event is $35.

I’m not 21, can I still attend the Front Range Splitfest?

YES! You can still come to all of the clinics, the raffle, and the meet-ups at the Headwaters Center. You just won’t be able to drink beer… we will be checking IDs. This might be an advantage the next day on the skin track though!
